Nature of the Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship 2010:
An Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who:
• Shows evidence of initiative and exceptional talent with ability to convert
ambitions to reality.
• Demonstrates their commitment to excellence.
• Demonstrates their passion for their work with potential to be outstanding in
an international context.
• Requests for support to undertake activities such as (but not limited to) post graduate study, private acting lessons or study programs will be looked on favorably.
The 2010 successful applicant in will receive the following benefits:
• Project support of $10,000 US cash.
• Travel support, including:
• One return Australia to USA economy QANTAS airfare
• Facilitated introductions to a Los Angeles based agent, manager and casting agent and additional industry meetings where possible.
• One Year Showcast VIP Package, including:
- a complimentary listing in the Showcast print and online publications
- free multimedia exposure online on Showcast
- with the support of our affiliate Breakdown Services L.A, we will facilitate a promotion of the winners on the Virual Channel Network.
- Breakdown Services will include a complimentary 5 minute showreel and membership on the Breakdown Services Actor Access system
- a showreel link will be posted to LA agents for representation consideration
- Breakdown Services will set up meetings for the winner with key casting directors
- Breakdown Services in association with Showcast will also publicize the scholarship to all LA based casting directors and agents via their network
Two runners-up will each receive a QANTAS roundtrip ticket from Australia and a Showcast VIP Package.
Timeframe of the Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship:
• Applications will be accepted online from October 5 to November 30, 2009 via
australiansinfilm.org.
• The successful applicant will be notified by February 2010.
• The scholarship activities must be undertaken within twelve months (12) from the date of announcement of the scholarship winner.
Eligibility:
• The scholarship is open to early career actors with a demonstrated achievement in their craft.
• Applicant must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia and over 18 years of age at the time of
application.
• Must have current passport and take responsibility for obtaining US Visa for period of the scholarship.
How will the scholarship be awarded?
A panel of five judges from the Australian and US film and television community will be appointed to make the selection.
How will the scholarship be funded?
Australians in Film and other benefactors will fund the Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship.
